What I like about blogs is the ability to show a wide range of images from a shoot that otherwise might not get seen. Here’s a sneak preview of a shoot with the fabulous Sophie Ashton and is a great example when that is a good thing. All pre retouch Sophie has an amazing look. You can tell I enjoyed this shoot – working with her was not only great fun, she’s bright and enthusiastic and a really receptive as a model. Frighteningly good! Watch this space as were going to do another again soon!Read More
Medium Format lovelyness at f/2.8, hear is a glimpse of some new portraits fresh from the can, Ismail and Laura are the stars of these two. Whilst we are going to have a little play in post it will be little as I think we nailed it in camera.Read More
David (seen pictured here) is a bright and determined consultant working in the medical sector. Head practitioner at The David Laszlo Partnership he is driven to providing excellence. Not unlike me! It was a pleasure to be asked by the good folk down at Create Marketing to shoot this for DLP as everyone involved worked hard and well towards making the images work.
Here is a sneaky one of some the new images from a commission from Mustard Models which will be going into post over the next few days (These are straight out of Capture One Pro as shot). Make Up by Jo Priestley from Mustard and models Sal, Liz and George all looking lovely. From a creative perspective these are extremely satisfying, fairly tricky to shoot but hitting the brief of creating stills from a film and creating a sense of three dimensional space – a voluminous perception.Read More
Not the sort of continuous sauce as delivered by the marvellous Kenneth Charles Williams ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-lwA61hkPk for you young ‘uns) but the continuous source lighting for when you don’t want flash or are making movies. Here’s the gear we have available here at the studio from a quick studio promo shot from today under the floating ceiling. This is all run off the single phase ring but we bring in 5k’s on Big Boys (oh i saaaay) as well as 2k’s and what ever is needed really on the 3 phase board don’t ya know.Read More
Some new works coming to the blog soon, but in the meantime I came across these whilst looking for something else today.
Pictured is Tim (right) and Bob (left) Organ during a 20th Century Society tour of some of their architecture back in 2010, including the buildings pictured here which are at Flax Bourton. The buildings date from 1972, but you could be mistaken for thinking 2072! You can find more information and short description by Rachel Williams here http://www.c20society.org.uk/botm/flax-bourton-housing-by-artist-constructor/ but I thought I should get these up for all those interested in the development of modern architecture.Read More
Here’s a very sneaky peek at a shoot I’m working the post on today, Some strong portraits for Getty. This is the lovely Chris and Sue at Mustard Models who were sooo lovely I have to give them a big biggady biggady bong as they were both brilliant to work with and spot on with what we were trying to achieve.Read More
This is a tree I pass most days on my way to the studio. Theres a kind of human appeal and fascination with lone trees I’m not sure why. Perhaps it’s because in some way it reminds us of our own tenuous links to life and our ultimate solitude. Their struggle to exist in a unforgiving world is akin to our own. I don’t know, what i do know however is that I can no longer feel my toes.Read More
It was lovely to have Jonathan Hyde come by the studio last week just before he jets off to L.A. (jealous?? me??…ok just a lot) . It was fun having his humour and wit in the room and to get such a wonderful and expressive (not to mention willing) subject. You will be familiar with Jonathan’s work i’m sure if not from his extensive theatre work with The Royal Shakespeare Company and others then for his major roles in films like Titanic, Jumanji, Richie Rich, The Contract, Anaconda and The Mummy as well as numerous television appearances (you may recall him as Gavrik in the recent series of Spooks). Nice one Jonny.Read More
